Project “Arohana”

The aim of project Arohana is to establish a holistic learning ecosystem that accommodates every child’s talent (Sarvodaya) at Mahatma Gandhi School. This will be accomplished in multiple phases

At the moment, the most pressing need is to strengthen the core academic skills of students (reading/writing/Oral language/grammar & numeracy). This is primarily because many kids have difficulties in reading/writing/Oral language/grammar and basic numeracy skills.

There are many Root Causes scuh as kids background (no parents/single parent/prisoners kids etc.) leading to no studies & care at home, emotional issues, unhealthy surrounding environment while at home. Additionally, many kids join in the middle of session from local medium school etc. (due to loss of parents, financial issues)

Phase I : The focus of Phase I is to maximize learning for students when they are in school. Following activities are planned for phase I implementation

  • Short-duration Remediation/Summer Camp: for kids with severe learning difficulties, to bring them up to the speed before start of academic year 23-24
  • Ongoing Remediation Plan (Bridge courses): To be included as part of academic year planning (to continue addressing issues)
  • Core academic skill building: Regular sessions on reading/writing/oral language/grammar/numeracy skills will be an integral part of academic year
  • Setup Jr. Science lab (for experiential/activity based learning) and maths kit (for concept building)
  • Setup classroom walls for better visual learning

Funding Requirement: Approx. 17 lakhs. Details and cost breakup are provided in attached file
