We had a parent-teacher meeting with the parents of our pre-primary children. While we provide an optimal learning ecosystem at school, the appropriate ecosystem at home is equally important as child spends maximum time with parents at home. At Aikya, we understand that parents’ participation is crucial to support child’s learning and growth. Given the challenging background these children come from, it is even more important to have regular counselling sessions with parents.
We covered various topics –
~ Importance of early childhood education and play-based approach for holistic development of a child
~ Role of appropriate ecosystem at home to support child’s learning
~ Importance of sending children to school regularly
~ Personal hygiene for children
~ Review progress of children
One of the key agenda was also to seek feedback from parents and understand issues/challenges they are facing. There are children with single mother, children staying with grandparents and many of them coming from villages cannot even afford transport to school
We intend to find solution to some of the issues with the help of local community
We were glad to understand from parents that the children are learning many new things and they are taking these learnings back to home
