On Environment day, we had a community program for making seed balls. We (parents, students, teachers and Aikya team) collectively made approx. 6000 seed balls. Apart from creating awareness and sensitivity towards nature, such programs help us inculcate the habit of teamwork and collaboration among students. We could notice that the children immediately started planning and discussing how they could make seed balls faster as a team.
At Aikya, we are always keen on parents involvement; we were happy that many parents turned up for the event and contributed back in their own capacity.
We will be throwing these seed balls in the forest area near kumbaranahalli village and Muthyala Maduvu fall, which are like 6-7 km from school.
Given that the rainy season has already started, we expect at least 50% of the seeds to germinate.
Students also planted flower and medicinal plants in the school premises with the help of teachers
