For everyone, literacy is a basic human right. It is a road to human progress and the means through which an individual can realize his or her full potential. Early foundational years are very significant for children because they learn the basics of reading, writing and numeracy in these years.
When children are unable to read, write and understand a simple text, they also struggle to learn any other subjects in school. Acquiring foundational literacy-numeracy (FLN) skill improves self-esteem, confidence in a child & reduces dropout from schools; it goes a long way in increasing employability, reducing inequality-exploitation-crimes in the society.
At Aikya, we are committed to strengthen the foundational literacy and numeracy skills of underprivileged children. As part of our engagement, we have set up FLN and activity-based learning ecosystem in Gummalapuram Panchayat school, this week.
We are deeply grateful to Shri Surya Prakash Kothari Ji and Smt. Sarita Kothari mam for their kind support in sponsoring complete numeracy and literacy content. From their busy schedule, they have taken time to visit the school and understand the learning needs of children. Many thanks to teachers and volunteers who have been working very hard for the past several weeks to set up an energized and vibrant learning ambience for children.
