Seed Balls
Seed balls are low cost and effective way for bulk plantation. The seeds are encased in a mixture of soil (black/clay soil) and compost; subsequently they are dried for couple of days in the sun and then can be used for plantation.
Seeds balls are proving to be an easy, innovative and affordable way for afforestation. Seed balls can be simply thrown in forest areas during monsoon season to increase green cover. The tough layer of black/clay soil protects the seed from getting eaten by birds and animals and when conditions are favourable, seeds germinate. These seed balls have a germination rate of approx. 60-70%.
We engage our school children, their parents and community for making thousands of seed balls ensuring that everyone understand their roles and responsibilities in conserving nature

Through our Nature-Connect initiative, we embark on a journey to plant more and more tress, contributing back to nature. Care for mother earth is a collective effort and we make all possible attempt to create awareness and involve community in our green initiatives
Kitchen Garden
Aikya Trust promotes kitchen garden concept within school premises. Aikya volunteers engage with children in planting various native vegetables and fruit varieties.
When kids are engaged practically in growing vegetables as a team, they learn much more than what they could learn from textbook/theory. Apart from learning the plant life cycle, they learn many other important skills like collaboration, team work, accountability, patience, empathy towards nature and so on.
Through such activities, they develop appreciation for food and understand the importance of not wasting it
